about

Wisdom comes with age, that alone is reason enough to value and respect the elderly. They can advise you on the many issues you'll encounter in life. Some people never grow wise though, they only get older. I'm a good example of that.

Anyway, this song contains some sound advice someone once gave me and I'm passing it on in my own messed up way. It's about not giving in too easily because life is unfair. Take charge of your life, don't accept empty promises, be yourself, and stand up to the oppressors, the manipulative, the bullies, and the gatekeepers.

As for the Leah part of the song; there's a story in the bible that tells about her pleading to get married to someone else instead of the person she got married off to. And she got her way because she kept at it.
So, stand up to your oppressors, and keep fighting, just like Leah did.

lyrics

Stained with red eyed mourning
And pulled from the dead crow’s beak
Came the old man’s warning
Not to turn my cheek

Hollow a promise spoken
Grown from the barren ground
Bending the pact that choked them
They came and took my crown

Don’t you cover this up
Don’t you cover this up

Leah was tender eyed and broken
Nailed to the churches door
Telling a tale softspoken
A long forgotten lore

Don’t you cover this up
Don’t you cover this up
Don’t you cover this up
Don’t you cover this up
